Choosing the right solar panel recycling machine depends first on the structure of your waste modules. Single-glass panels and double-glass panels have different material layers and recycling difficulty, so they are not always suitable for the same processing route. For investors, recyclers, and PV waste treatment companies, the key question is whether to choose a mechanical solar panel recycling line or a pyrolysis recycling line.

Mechanical Recycling Line for Single Glass Solar Panels
For single glass solar panels, a mechanical recycling line is usually the more direct solution. YUSHUNXIN’s YSX-1000 mechanical solar panel recycling production line is designed for this type of material, with a processing capacity of 1 t/h, total power of 277.6 kW, and a land requirement of 36 × 6 × 6 m.
The process starts with an aluminum frame removal machine, followed by a glass removal machine to separate the front glass layer. After that, the remaining panel material enters a shredder, hammer crusher, and grinding mill. The material size is reduced step by step from 3–4 cm, to 6–8 mm, and finally to 10–80 mesh. Then, a gravity separator and electrostatic separator recover copper, silicon powder, and plastic powder.
This route is suitable when the incoming panels are mainly single glass modules and the buyer wants a largely physical separation process with clear material recovery steps.
Pyrolysis Line for Mixed Single and Double Glass Panels
When the feedstock includes both single glass and double glass solar panels, a pyrolysis solar panel recycling line is more suitable. YUSHUNXIN provides models such as YSX-8000 and YSX-16000, with processing capacities of 8 t/day and 16 t/day respectively. Their required land areas are 50 × 30 × 8 m and 60 × 30 × 8 m.
In this process, the aluminum frame is first dismantled. Then the frameless panels enter the pyrolysis reactor directly. During heating, the EVA encapsulation layer evaporates, while exhaust gas is collected and treated through separation and condensation. The remaining solid material, including glass scraps, copper, silver, and silicon, enters a screening and separation system for further recovery. The produced syngas can return to the reactor for heating, helping reduce part of the running cost.
This solution is better for recyclers dealing with mixed panel types, especially when they also want to support silver extraction. According to the product brochure, the silver extraction section can produce about 90% purity rough silver, and a refining process can further obtain 99.99% purity silver ingots.
How to Choose the Right Solar Panel Recycling Machine?
The decision can be summarized simply:
- Choose a mechanical recycling line for mainly single glass solar panels.
- Choose a pyrolysis recycling line for mixed single and double glass panels, especially when deeper separation and silver recovery are required.
For buyers comparing equipment options, panel type, target recovered materials, plant capacity, and available space should all be considered before selecting the final line.
